Motivation-Enhancing Methods and Strategies
KORI (KORea University’s Intelligent tutoring agent) is a computer program that features a "teachable agent." The program rests on the basic principle of 'learning by teaching' and was developed with the goal of enhancing participants' motivation for learning science concepts. Students teach new concepts to the virtual agent KORI as he explores a new environment and, by doing so, are expected to adopt an active, emotion-vitalized approach toward science learning. Because each learner is assumed to function with a unique knowledge structure and motivational dynamic, learning tools are uniquely tailored to individuals' needs. KORI is one example of bMRI's effort to develop methods and strategies applicable to authentic learning situations.
