Neuroeducation

The brain research group at bMRI performs various studies that examine motivational phenomena at more micro levels. We try to connect findings from macro-level studies to neurological bases of motivation, emotion, and decision-making behaviors. Stated differently, we are interested in finding out how individual differences, interest, a sense of agency, competition, or choice relate to "the motivational and emotional brain," by comparing the degrees of relative activation in relevant brain regions. We believe discovering neural correlates of motivated behaviors can tell us a lot about the nature of human motivation as we observe it at the behavioral level and also that the field of neuroeducation will prove to be a useful line of novel inquiry to the goal of understanding motivation and emotion. We perform PET scans, fMRI, and bio-marker analyses during virtual or simple learning experimental situations.
